Why Attend?

Attending Starting Point Baptist Church will:

  • Provide an environment in which you can grow in your knowledge of God’s Word through thorough, yet practical Bible teaching.

  • Provide an environment in which you can praise and worship God with other believers through heart touching music, testimonies, prayer and drama.

  • Provide a place where you can develop meaningful relationships with other believers. Church is a wonderful place to be encouraged by people who genuinely love you.

  • Help you to reach out to people you know, who may need a warm Church family, or even a relationship with God through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Why Get Baptized?

According to God’s Word, the first important step after we put faith in Christ is Baptism! At Starting Point, Baptism is part of our Sunday Services. Call the church office for setting up a date to be baptized.

The Importance of Being Baptized

1. It Is A Public Testimony That You Are A Follower of Christ and His Teaching.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world, A-men’.” Matthew 28:19-20

2. It Symbolizes Spiritual Cleansing.
“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11

3. It Pictures the True Meaning of Salvation.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:1-4

Note: The word “baptize” means “to immerse or dip under water.” Water baptism by immersion is a public display of obedience in following Christ’s example for His baptism (Matthew 3:16). Baptism does not make you a believer - it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not “save” you - only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring - it’s the outward symbol of the commitment that you have made in your heart.

“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Make Starting Point your Church!

One of the most frequently asked questions relating to the topic of church membership is...

“Why should I join the church, anyway? After all, it makes no difference - - I can still go to church and participate in all the activities without feeling tied down or committed.”

Although it is not required to join Starting Point, we highly encourage you to attend an upcoming session of BIBLE101 to discover more about what it means to be a member.

Offered with a meal, the gathering provides an opportunity to meet pastors and staff members as they share about the vision, mission, and strategy of the church and walk you through the BIBLE101 booklet.

While there, you can learn how you can find your place to gather, grow, and give at Starting Point — and meet other new people, as well!

At Starting Point we never ask our members to do more than the Bible clearly teaches. We only expect our members to do what the Bible expects every Christian to do. To find out more about membership at Starting Point, please contact the pastor.
